As part of their study, participants answered questions about their social media use. When social media addiction progresses, it can become consuming of a persons time and energy. As a result, a person with an addiction to social media will withdraw from family and friends and spend most of their time in the virtual world. Lose interest in other activities. As social media takes up more and more time, it becomes the most important thing in a persons life. Consequently, the addicted person will spend the bulk of their time on social media and very little time doing the things they once loved. Neglect school or work in favor of social media. One hallmark of addiction, is the way that it consumes a persons time, energy, and attention. For this reason, many people with social media addiction often neglect their schoolwork or their work assignments because they cannot tear themselves away from social media. Experience negative impacts to your personal or professional life. One of the biggest indicators that you or your teen has a problem with social media is when it starts interfering with your life in a negative way. For instance, grades start dropping and deadlines are missed for school or work are definite indicators that there is a problem. Feel stressed and that your life is lacking. Manage Notifications When notifications from social media ping on your phone all day, every day, it can be challenging not to toggle over to your social media accounts and see what is happening. For this reason, it can be extremely useful, and preventative, to turn off the notifications on your social media accounts. This way, instead of social media beckoning you to check out what people are posting or saying, you are in control. As a result, you are free to check social media at times that are convenient for you rather than feeling you should check right away when your phone pings. Meanwhile, you may want to turn on notifications for when your kids post to their social media accounts. In other words, you can set up notifications on your account to notify you know anytime your teen posts something on their social media account. Track Your Time on Social Media Whether you use your phones settings or get a free app like Quality Time, there are countless ways to manage your time and track how much time you are spending not only on your phone but also on social media, Netflix, and online gaming. Once you know how you are spending your time, you will be able to set goals and limits for your social media use. Additionally, some apps allow you to add family members so that you can all disconnect or unplug together as well as keep one another accountable. After you have paid all the fees and fines, attended the classes, served your sentence and completed all the requirements to get your driving privileges back, you may find that just having a DUI conviction on your record can be a form of punishment by itself. Long-Lasting Consequences Many people who found their way to recovery as a result of being arrested for drunk driving and have cleaned up their act, quit drinking, and remained sober, have become frustrated when they find that years later they are still paying for their crime anytime someone runs a background check on them. A drunk driving conviction can hamper you in getting a job, obtaining credit, purchasing a gun, getting a student loan, or even renting an apartment in some cases.?? It can even affect your ability to get insurance and the price you will pay for insurance. The solution to that problem is to try to have your DUI conviction expunged from your record if you can do so. The record is really never completely erased, however. It can still be seen by law enforcement and court officials to determine if you have had prior convictions.?? But an expungement will keep your record from hampering you in getting a job or applying for a loan. How Do You Get One? The first thing you need to determine is if the state in which you were convicted allows expungements.?? If it does, then the next step is to determine what requirements you need to meet to have your record cleared. The eligibility requirements for expungement vary from state to state, but generally the factors most states consider include: Was the DUI your first and only conviction?How much time has passed since the conviction???What was the severity and nature of the crime? Determining If You Are Eligible If you have other convictions on your record, chances are you will not be eligible to have your record expunged. If you have multiple DUI convictions, the chances are almost zero that you can get them sealed. Most states have a time limit in which you must have maintained a clean criminal record to be eligible for expungement. Again, it varies from state to state and can range from three years to 10 years. If your DUI conviction was a felonyâ€"if someone was killed or injured or if the property was destroyedâ€"it may be more difficult for you to get the record expunged.?? Drunk Driving and Vehicular Homicide Beginning the Expungement Process If you find that your state does offer expungement and you are eligible, that is just the beginning. Now the work begins. You will have to fill out an application or a petition to file with the court. It requires a lot of paperwork and there are court fees involved with the filings. In some states, you may have to file the petition with the clerk of the court and in others, you may have to file them with the district attorneys office instead. The process can be long and complicated. In some jurisdictions, the judge will determine if you will be granted an expungement by reading the papers that you have filed along with your background check and other reports or opinions from the district attorney. In other jurisdictions, a public hearing is required on your petition, at which time you will be allowed to state your reasons for applying for the expungement. Is It Worth the Effort? The process can be long, complicated and even confusing. It is possible to proceed on your own, but if you can afford it, you might be better off getting an attorney to guide you through the process. The bottom line is, if your DUI was not your only conviction, or if you are still drinking and driving, chances are seeking an expungement would be a waste of time and effort. In literature, a tragedy is a drama where the main character in the end suffers extreme sorrow because of their mistakes or poor judgment. If characters’ fates are to suffer the extreme sorrows, then these characters are tragic characters. These tragic characters, however, must follow Aristotle’s principles which include hamartia, hubris, peripeteia, anagnorisis, nemesis, and catharsis. If the character has all six of Aristotle’s principles, then the character can qualify as an Aristotelian tragic character. Two examples of Aristotelian tragic characters are from Sophocles’ Greek play Antigone from the trilogy dealing with Oedipus and his children (Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone). The two Aristotelian tragic characters are Creon, the king of Thebes in Antigone, and Antigone herself. Creon‘s hamartia, his flaw that causes his downfall, includes his stubbornness which causes him to not listen to the opinions of others, including Tiresias, additionally, this also connects to hubris since he also did this because of his pride. At face value we can say that Nicholas is Arcite’s counterpart and that Absolon is Palamon’s but that doesn’t match story wise as Nicholas is the one who wins Alison’s favor while Alcite dies and Palamon is the one who marries Emily but Absolon is farted on. Could this an attempt by Chaucer to comment on ineffectiveness of genuine romantic sensibilities? That only a simulacrum of romance referenced from texts is more applicable and successful. Three of these seduction poems utilize several strategies to do this: Andrew Marvell’s â€Å"To His Coy Mistress,† and Donne’s â€Å"A Valediction: Forbidden Mourning† and â€Å"The Flea.† Some of the reasoning used by both poets is similar to the reasoning used today by men to convince women to have sexual intercourse with them. These gimmicks vary from poem to poem but coincide with modern day rationalization. The tactics used in 17th century seduction poems are relevant and similar to the seduction tactics used in the 21st century.
